Workshop on Symmetries and Asymptotic patterns

in Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations

10-12 June 2019

Mathematics Department, Swansea University

Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) are a universal language of science for describing natural phenomena. Understanding the symmetries and asymptotic properties of solutions to stationary and time dependent nonlinear PDEs often provides the key to finding the actual solutions and their properties, such as regularity, stability, front propagation. It is also fundamental in the numerical analysis of nonlinear PDEs. The aim of the workshop is to bring to Swansea a group of leading international experts on symmetries and asymptotic behaviour in nonlinear PDEs for an exchange of ideas and update on most recent advances in these areas which will foster new collaborations.

The meeting is open to all and will provide an opportunity for established as well as early career researchers to present their recent results.

Limited funds are available to contribute to expenses of UK postgraduate students, see Registration page for more details.

The meeting is supported by the London Mathematical Society via Conference Grants - Scheme 1 and by the Research Fund of Swansea University College of Science.

Friedemann Brock is visiting Mathematics Department of Swansea University from Septembers 2018 until August 2019. His visiting professorship has been made possible by the Leverhulme Trust.
